Interpretation Toward Books The Green Gauntlet (A Horseman Riding By #3)
Paul and Claire Craddock had grown older in years, but not in spirit. The Second World War was over. But for Craddock and his family there were new battles to be fought and won. For the new property laws enabled speculators to reap huge profits from agricultural land, and Pauls livelihood was threatened.
With the help of his children and his children's children, he struggled to preserve the happiness and peace he had built up over the years. And in doing so, he came to discover deeper, richer ties with those around him. Ties which held a ripe promise for the future.

My first Delderfield. Thank's Maura's MOM.. I love Family Saga's and English novels. Delderfield is one of my favorite author's. I few surprises. My favourite trilogy for awhile. An old friend.
This, the third book in a trilogy about the Craddock family, is definitely better than the second one. This one takes them through World War II and on to 1965. I was not impressed with the trilogy.

Following on from the heady heights of the first book and the disappointing lows of the second, this book finished the trilogy nicely and - if it wasn't quite as good as book one - was a definite improvement on its predecessor. Delderfield is fantastic at tracking the progress of time, changing attitudes and changing landscapes, while still showing the continuity of everyday life. The ending is brilliant, worthy almost of a Mary Stewart, and by the end all of the characters (except, perhaps, the
Delderfield is an old-fashioned English storyteller. He creates real characters that you care about and are sad to leave when the last page is read.
This is the third in the series A Horseman Riding By and completes the saga of the Craddock family. It's one of those rare books that you hate to have end, even though there's such a sense of fulfillment having followed the lives of these people from Book 1 beginning at the end of the Boer War all the way to the 1960s. A masterfully written tale full of wonderful characters and story lines...a book you can truly lose yourself in!!
A wonderful conclusion to this series.I love all of this authors books but this series was the first I read and it remains one of my favorites.
