Even though Watanuki sacrifices his eye to save his Doumeki's eye, he continues to act selfish. Was it just me or was the end of the Volume hinting towards Himawari having some sinister intent?
An accident while cleaning up Dômekis place causes Dômeki to fall under a curse and lose the use of an eye. Watanuki decides to sacrifice his own in order to help him, but Dômeki doesnt appreciate or accept this. Advising and guiding them through all of this is Yûko, who reveals a little more of why Dômeki cannot enter her store. Even Himawari-chan is starting to notice the forces of destiny pushing Watanuki and Dômeki together. Strange things start happening to Watanukis vision other than loss.

It is not a series by CLAMP until someone loses an eye, but oh, how well they do it here, and how they make the choices seem meaningful and real. I like in particular how quick Watanuki is to sacrifice himself, without consideration of what is truly best for anyone in the situation, and how that is shown to be so poor, in him and for others, and Yuuko encouraging Doumeki's rage at it.
xxxHolic Volume 7 by CLAMP is the start of the second season of the anime. It's also the point where Dômeki and Watanuki's differences begin to blur.It begins with a broken web and a spider with a grudge. Watanuki gets stuck in one of those gigantic garden webs at Dômeki's home. Dômeki does what anyone would do, helps untangle the web by pulling it down.
