Commentary Toward Books Bloodshot, Volume 4: H.A.R.D. Corps (Bloodshot (2012) #4)

Every mission...is someone's last!
Out of the ashes of Harbinger Wars, Bloodshot is about to join the weaponized men and women of the Harbinger Active Resistance Division - the black budget, technologically-augmented strike force where the powers are dangerously unstable and every mission is a one-way ticket into the meat grinder. With a reluctant leader calling the shots and a new crop of untested rookies manning the frontline, Bloodshot is about to take H.A.R.D. Corps behind enemy lines, and into a gasoline-drenched, synapses-snapping suicide run where no one is safe...and heroes always die trying!
Join acclaimed writers Christos Gage (Avengers Academy) and Joshua Dysart (Harbinger Wars) and superstar-in-the-making Emanuela Lupacchino (Archer & Armstrong) right here to light the fuse on an explosive new chapter for Bloodshot and the Valiant Universe's most feared team of superhuman operatives!

Crit Of Books Bloodshot, Volume 4: H.A.R.D. Corps (Bloodshot (2012) #4)
(view spoiler)[I am a bit puzzled but the decision Bloodshot made to work with H.A.R.D Corps. But otherwise it was solid run. I preferred this in the role of outlaw on the run with the quest to save people. It looks like he completely diverted from this goal and I got employed again by his former slave masters. Which is super weird. But maybe next book will explain this more (hide spoiler)]

You don't often see super-teams that include members with cystic fibrosis, cognitive disability, untreated addictions, and devout faith, but here they are in H.A.R.D. Corps! If the story could give each character a little more focus -shame Bloodshot keeps stealing the spotlight here and in Vol. 5- the Corps could easily become another set of Harbinger's Renegades to me. As it stands, still an okay arc for Bloodshot's series, but I wish they could have stood on their own, too.

Quite not the same level, too much non-sense talk, too many times the same kind of talk, too often the same storyline.... Feels like the valiant universe is too small.

After the events of the Harbinger War Bloodshot gets set up with a new status quo as the leader of the H.A.R.D. Corps (a 90's-tastic name if I ever heard one). The bulk of the story is about introducing the new characters and firmly reintroducing the H.A.R.D. Corps to the Valiant Universe. Still pretty well done, the art by Emanuela Lupacchino is quite good and the new team dynamic will be interesting to follow.

Plenty of new characters - most of who get short shrift in the story - but the action is repetitious and what seems to be the beginning of a great new big bad gets disposed of in the course of a single page.

This was my first real introduction to Valiant's H.A.R.D. Corps, so I don't really know how well this did as a representation of whatever this group used to be or is supposed to be, but I did enjoy Bloodshot and the main storyline. The H.A.R.D corps is a fairly odd group of people who have (for various reasons) volunteered to undergo risky surgery to get extremely hazardous implants put in their heads. These implants allow them to download powers via an operator who sits behind a computer
